Message from Scottish police officer and rescue worker

Subject: Lockerbie - The immediate aftermath

I am a serving Scottish Police Officer and 10 years ago I was one of the first seconded to the scene of the tragedy at Lockerbie. I was in charge of a team of 12 officers and when we first arrived there was total confusion and dis-organised chaos.

Daylight brought some order to the events unfolding. It was the shortest day so our window of opportunity was slender.

My detail was to search the area immediatly beside Tundergarth. We found
approximately 24 bodies.

I don't talk much about this but if any family member is in the slightest doubt, your loved ones were NOT left alone on the hill. My officers stood by them until we could move them to the town and we gave as much respect as we could.

This is short and brief. I never thought of using the internet until now, but if anyone wishes further contact I can be reached on KC2869@aol.com

My name is Keith Chamberlain and I am a Police Inspector with Lothian and Borders Police based in Edinburgh
